Age & Child Safety

Version 1.0.0  ·  effective 30 August 2026  ·  HeyPlay Interactive Private Limited

This page describes who can use HeyPlay and what each age range can do. It is about conduct and access, not data — for what data we process, see the Privacy Policy.

1How we determine age

The app asks Apple for the age range associated with the Apple Account in use. It receives a range — not a date of birth. We never ask for, receive, or store a birthday.

On devices that cannot provide a range, or where the person chooses not to share one, the app runs with voice features switched off.

13–15 and 16–17 have the same access in this version. Apple answers against three gates — 13, 16 and 18 — and we keep all three answers on your device, because some countries set their rules at 16; today only the 13 and 18 lines change what you can do. Voice features send audio to a third-party speech service. We do not do that for anyone under 18. The age band is resolved on your device by Apple's Declared Age Range API, and the app will not open a cloud voice session below that line.

3If the age is wrong

The age comes from the Apple Account, and is corrected there — in Settings, by the Family Sharing organiser for a child account.

The app re-checks the range when it is reopened, and there is a "Check my age range" control in the app's Settings. The app asks once, and asks again only when you tap to ask — there is no repeated prompting.

4What the companion does, and does not, do

5What we do not do

6For parents and guardians

HeyPlay is a music-driven app with an AI companion and worlds to explore. The companion is software — it talks with your child, always says it is AI, declines topics that are not suitable for younger users, and steps back to crisis resources if a conversation turns serious. Younger age ranges use the on-device companion only; live voice is limited to 18 and over.

The parental controls that apply are Apple's own — Ask to Buy (approve purchases) and Screen Time (limit use). Apple explains how to set these up in its Ask to Buy and Screen Time guides.
